Cycle “Race Around Ireland”
MATIC Actuators Engineering Manager, Paul Turner, Support Manager, Matthew Turner and two friends (Rick Anderson and Matt Neame) entered a four-man team to cycle in the 1350 mile, non-stop 2010 Race around Ireland which they completed in 79 hours 49 minutes.
Over 4 nights and 3 days, the team battled sleep deprivation, extreme weather conditions including 60 to 70 mph head winds and some of the biggest hills in Ireland, however, despite this, the team successfully gained a 3rd place podium finish in what proved to be Europe’s toughest cycling race!
Paul, Matthew & friends plus their very dedicated support crew along the way raised in excess of £2,500 for the Male Cancer Awareness Campaign (MCAC); a fantastic effort by ALL!
